Indication
Parenteral nutrition for adults and children over 2 years when oral/enteral feeding is not possible.
Dosage (summary)
Individualized; max 40 ml/kg/day based on clinical status.

Safety not established in pregnancy and lactation.
Key Drug Interactions
- Ceftriaxone (risk of precipitation with calcium)
- Potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia)
Contraindications
- Premature neonates
- Hypersensitivity to components
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Severe hyperlipidaemia
- Severe hyperglycaemia
Common side effects
- Tachycardia
- Hypertriglyceridemia
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
Counselling Points
- Use immediately after opening
- Monitor infusion site for extravasation
- Supplement with vitamins and trace elements
Serious warnings
- Risk of fat overload syndrome
- Monitor for allergic reactions
- Risk of pulmonary vascular precipitates
