Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tuberculin
- Severe local reaction to tuberculin
- Previous tuberculosis diagnosis
Common side effects
- Injection site pain
- Itching
- Irritation
- Fever
- Lymphadenopathy
Counselling Points
- Observe for allergic reactions for 20 mins post-injection
- Avoid subcutaneous or intramuscular injection
Serious warnings
- Risk of exaggerated reactions in active tuberculosis
- Anaphylaxis risk
