Indication
Prevention and treatment of inflammation and infection associated with cataract surgery.
Dosage (summary)
One drop into the conjunctival sac every 6 hours for 7 days post-surgery.
Special Populations
- Elderly population
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to lack of safety data.
Key Drug Interactions
- Probenecid
- Cimetidine
- Ciclosporin
- Topical steroids
- Topical NSAIDs
- CYP3A4 inhibitors
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or dexamethasone
- Herpes simplex
- Mycobacterial infections
- Fungal diseases
- Untreated purulent infection
Common side effects
- Ocular burning
- Increased intraocular pressure
- Eye irritation
- Blurred vision
Counselling Points
- Wash hands before use
- Avoid contact of dropper with eye
- Report any visual disturbances
- Do not use if allergic reactions occur
Serious warnings
- Prolonged use may induce antibiotic resistance
- Risk of ocular hypertension/glaucoma
- Potential for tendon inflammation and rupture
