Indication
Prevention of VTE in major orthopedic surgery and treatment/prevention of DVT and PE.
Dosage (summary)
10 mg once daily for VTE prevention; 15 mg twice daily for DVT/PE treatment initially, then 20 mg once daily.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

- NSAIDs

- Active bleeding
- Severe hepatic disease
- Hypersensitivity
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
Common side effects
- Anaemia
- Dizziness
- Gingival bleeding
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
Counselling Points
- Monitor for signs of bleeding
- Take with food for 15 mg and 20 mg
- Avoid pregnancy during treatment
Serious warnings
- Increased risk of thrombotic events with premature discontinuation
- Risk of spinal/epidural haematoma
