Indication

Indicated for mild to moderate infections in adults and children over 1 year.

Dosage (summary)

Adults: 500 mg once daily. Children: 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days.

Special Populations

  • Hepatic impairment
  • Renal impairment
  • Children under 1 year

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed; caution in lactation as it is secreted in breast milk.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Ergot derivatives
  • Warfarin
  • Digoxin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to azithromycin
  • Severe hepatic impairment

Common side effects

  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
