Treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes.
Dosage (summary)
75 mg/mu00b2 subcutaneously daily for 7 days every 4 weeks; may increase to 100 mg/mu00b2 if no response.

- Paediatric population
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation; potential reproductive toxicity.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to azacitidine
- Advanced malignant hepatic tumours
- Severe renal impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Children under 18 years
Common side effects
- Anaemia
- Neutropenia
- Thrombocytopenia
- Nausea
- Vomiting

- Monitor for signs of bleeding
- Report febrile episodes
- Use effective contraception during treatment

- Haematological toxicity
- Risk of necrotising fasciitis
- Cardiac events in patients with history of cardiovascular disease
