Indication
Treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: 600-2700 mg/day in divided doses; Children: 15-40 mg/kg/day.
Special Populations
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
- Infants under 1 month
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Safety in pregnancy not established; crosses placenta. Caution in breastfeeding due to potential gastrointestinal effects on infants.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased effects of neuromuscular blockers
- Antagonism with erythromycin
- Increased bleeding risk with vitamin K antagonists
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to clindamycin
- Gastrointestinal disease
- Meningitis
