Indication
Symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute sciatica.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: Max 15 mg/day; Acute sciatica: 7.5 mg once daily, may increase to 15 mg; Osteoarthritis: 7.5 mg once daily, may increase; Rheumatoid arthritis: 15 mg once daily, may reduce to 7.5 mg.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding; may impair fertility.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants
- Increased lithium levels
- Reduced methotrexate clearance
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to COXITEC
- Active peptic ulcer disease
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Severe non-dialysed renal impairment
- Heart failure
- History of gastrointestinal bleeding
- Pregnancy
- Active inflammatory bowel disease

- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- Peptic ulcers
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Peripheral edema
Counselling Points
- Take with food and water
- Monitor for gastrointestinal symptoms
- Avoid use with other NSAIDs
- Report any skin reactions immediately

- Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding
