Indication
Symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute sciatica.
Dosage (summary)
Rheumatoid arthritis: 15 mg/day, may reduce to 7.5 mg. Osteoarthritis: 7.5 mg/day, may increase to 15 mg.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 5-6 hours, Duration: 20 hours
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contra-indicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding; may impair fertility.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants
- Increased lithium levels
- Reduced methotrexate clearance
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to meloxicam
- Active gastrointestinal ulceration
- Severe hepatic/renal insufficiency
- Children under 12 years
