Indication

Management of moderate to moderately severe pain.

Dosage (summary)

Adults: Initial 50 mg, then 50-100 mg every 4-6 hours. Max 400 mg/day.

Special Populations

  • Elderly
  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Key Drug Interactions

  • MAO inhibitors
  • CNS depressants
  • Serotonergic medicines

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to tramadol
  • Children <12 years
  • Postoperative use in children <18 years
  • Acute intoxication with CNS depressants
  • Severe respiratory depression

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Somnolence
