Indication
Steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye and external auditory meatus.
Dosage (summary)
1-2 drops into conjunctival sac; 4-6 times daily for mild inflammation, hourly for severe.

- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

- CYP3A4 inhibitors
- Pupil-dilating eye drops
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone
- Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis
- Vaccinia
- Varicella
- Mycobacterial infection
- Fungal diseases
- Mechanical lacerations

- Ocular discomfort
- Blurred vision
- Dry eye
- Keratitis
Counselling Points
- Avoid contact lenses during treatment
- Monitor for visual disturbances
- Do not discontinue abruptly after long-term use
Serious warnings
- Prolonged use may cause glaucoma
- Monitor intraocular pressure
- May mask infections
