Dosage (summary)
20 mg/day for adults and elderly; 60 mg/day for bulimia; 20-60 mg/day for OCD.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use only if benefits outweigh risks; may cause withdrawal symptoms in neonates.
Key Drug Interactions
- CYP2D6 inhibitors
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
- Tamoxifen
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to fluoxetine
- Severe renal failure
- Concomitant use with MAOIs

- Headache
- Nausea
- Insomnia
- Fatigue
- Diarrhoea

- Monitor for worsening depression
- Avoid alcohol
- Report any distressing thoughts
