Indication
Treatment of schizophrenia and manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: Start at 50 mg for schizophrenia, titrate to 300-450 mg/day; for bipolar mania, start at 100 mg, titrate to 400-800 mg/day.

- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation; safety not demonstrated.

- CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin)
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity
- Severe liver impairment
- Severe renal impairment

- Elderly with dementia-related behavioral disturbances

- Somnolence
- Dizziness
- Orthostatic hypotension
- Weight gain
- Extrapyramidal symptoms
