Indication
Short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever when oral route is unsuitable.
Dosage (summary)
Adults >50 kg: 1 g (100 mL) up to 4 times daily; <50 kg: 15 mg/kg up to 4 times daily.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 15 mins, Duration: 4-6 hours
Special Populations
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
- Elderly
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use only if necessary during pregnancy; caution in breastfeeding due to excretion in milk.
Key Drug Interactions
- Probenecid may reduce clearance
- Increased risk of hepatotoxicity with enzyme inducers
- Caution with anticoagulants like warfarin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to paracetamol
- Severe hepatocellular insufficiency
- Active alcoholism
