Indication
Indicated for epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: Start 25 mg/day, increase to 100-200 mg/day. Children: 0.6 mg/kg/day.

- Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended in pregnancy; limited data in breastfeeding.
Key Drug Interactions
- Valproate increases lamotrigine levels
- Carbamazepine decreases lamotrigine levels
- Hormonal contraceptives may reduce lamotrigine efficacy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lamotrigine
Common side effects
- Skin rash
- Dizziness
- Nausea

- Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent seizures.
