  • Metabolic alkalosis

  • Muscle weakness
  • Shortness of breath

  • Dilute before use
  • Monitor electrolytes
  • Avoid rapid infusion in neonates

  • Risk of fluid overload
  • Chemical cellulitis from extravasation
  • Monitor acid-base status
