Dosage (summary)
Initially, 500 mg three times daily or 850/1000 mg twice daily with meals; max 2550 mg daily.

Onset: Few days, Duration: Up to 2 weeks for full effect.

- Elderly
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation; crosses placenta and found in breast milk.

- Sulphonylureas

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity
- Diabetic ketoacidosis
- Renal failure
- Acute conditions affecting renal function
- Chronic liver disease
- History of lactic acidosis

- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Metallic taste
- Anorexia
