Indication

Allergic disorders and anaphylactic reactions.

Dosage (summary)

Adults: Initial 25 mg at night, may increase to 50-100 mg. Daytime: 10 mg three times daily.

Onset of Action / Duration

Onset: 30 mins, Duration: 16-18 hours

Special Populations

  • Children under 2 years
  • Elderly
  • Patients with liver dysfunction

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to risks of neonatal irritability.

  • Caution with QT prolonging drugs
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Increased effects with sedatives

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to promethazine
  • Children under 2 years
