Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Tenofovir Disoproxil is classified as Category B3. It is not known if it is excreted in human milk; caution should be exercised when administered to nursing mothers.
Key Drug Interactions
- Didanosine: Increased risk of didanosine toxicity.
- Adefovir: Increased risk of nephrotoxicity.
- Rifampicin: May decrease tenofovir levels.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tenofovir disoproxil or any component of the formulation.
- Severe renal impairment (CrCl < 50 mL/min).
