Indication
Short-term treatment of severe insomnia and anaesthetic premedication.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: Initial 7.5 mg, max 15 mg; elderly/debilitated: 7.5 mg.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 30 mins, Duration: 6-8 hours
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Avoid in pregnancy; excreted in breast milk, do not use during lactation.
Key Drug Interactions
- CYP3A inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole)
- CNS depressants (e.g., alcohol)
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to midazolam
- Myasthenia gravis
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Children under 12
- Respiratory insufficiency

- Dizziness

- Dependence
- Respiratory depression
Counselling Points
- Limit use to 2 weeks
