Alimta 500mg Infusion

Indication

Treatment of locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and malignant pleural mesothelioma.

Dosage (summary)

The recommended dose of Pemetrexed is 500 mg/m² administered as an intravenous infusion over 30 minutes on the first day of each 21-day treatment cycle.

Onset of Action / Duration

The onset of action is typically observed within a few weeks, with maximum effect seen after several cycles of treatment.

Special Populations

• Elderly patients may require dose adjustment.
• Patients with renal impairment should have their dose adjusted based on creatinine clearance.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pemetrexed is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential harm to the fetus and infant.

Key Drug Interactions

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may increase the risk of toxicity.
• Caution is advised when used with other myelosuppressive agents.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Pemetrexed or any of its components.
• Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 45 mL/min).
