Indication
Symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris and chronic heart failure.
Dosage (summary)
5 mg twice daily, may increase to 7.5 mg if tolerated.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation due to teratogenic effects.
Key Drug Interactions
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
- Moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors
- QT-prolonging medicines
Contraindications
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- 3rd degree AV block
- Severe hypotension
- Acute coronary syndrome
Common side effects
- Bradycardia
- Headache
- Phosphenes
- Dizziness
Counselling Points
- Take with food
- Monitor for visual disturbances
- Report symptoms of bradycardia
Serious warnings
- Risk of atrial fibrillation
- Monitor heart rate
- Discontinue if heart rate < 50 bpm
